The 84 "thumbnails" below are linked to original period stereoviews of the CPRR Sierra grade taken and/or published by E. & H.T. Anthony, Alfred A. Hart, Andrew J. Russell, Carleton E. Watkins, and Thomas Houseworth. Photographed between 1864 and 1869 to document the construction of the CPRR, these views were selected from a number of the other collections at the Museum. You are invited to compare and contrast these period views of Newcastle, Bloomer Cut, Cape Horn, Cisco, and Donner Summit, to the six galleries of digital images taken in August, 2003, along the Sierra grade as it exists today. –BCC
