Sen. Aaron A. Sargent 1884 Autograph Letter Signed on Palace Hotel Stationary.



Autograph letter signed (ALS) written to F.N. Chase, Esq, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, by former U.S. Senator Aaron A. Sargent at the Palace Hotel, San Francisco, on August 6, 1884. As a Member of Congress (1861-63; 1869-73) and the U.S. Senate (1873-79) from California, A.A. Sargent was both a key player in the original passage of the Pacific Railroad Act of 1862 and an ongoing champion in the Congress and Senate of the interests of the Central Pacific Railroad. He later served as the U.S. Minister to Germany (1882-84.)
