Comes to the “Overland” Route.
After 65 years of exclusively steam locomotion on the “Overland” route from Chicago to San Francisco, in 1934 the Union Pacific introduced dieseleletric powered streamliner service for the first time. (On October 22, 1934, 57-hour transcontinental mail service by rail was also introduced using this new high-speed train.)
