Fish plate found at the foot of the tent frame.
This fish plate matched exactly in profile to 1868 RIC wrought iron
rail used by the CPRR. What this fish plate was used for is a mystery, I imagine
(1) to
hold down the canvas tent flaps or (2) a fire place grill. The
1868 56 pound-to-the-yard fish plate found at the site dates the site, in my
mind, to the CPRR construction era.
