CPRR Business Card, 1881.
B. Lightner, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Union Delegate
B. Lightner, C.P.R.R., Sacramento, Cal. F. A. E. and Delegate, Div. 110 B. of L.E.
F. A. E. = "First Assistant Engineer"
Div. 110 = "Division 110" (i.e., a Local Union 110)
B. of L.E. = "Brotherhood of
Locomotive Engineers"
"F. A. E." is a union (BLE) title, not a CPRR position.
The highest
officer in a local (Local Division) such as Div. 110 was "Chief Engineer";
in a Grand (National) Division it was "Grand Chief Engineer".
The business card has gold edges, a blank verso, and the shape is as originally made.
" 'F.A.E. and Delegate,' and '1881' were crossed out in pencil, and the pencil marks partially erased."
